This Riad is super-nice! An amazing experience. We did benefit from a superior room/suite with a wonderful wooden extension over the courtyard though all the rooms we saw look very nice! A great mix of traditional Moroccan architecture and interior with a little bit of modern style. Wonderful lights and bathroom recesses. Julien has taken over early in 2015 and made many improvements. The place is a challenge to find down many narrow pedestrian lanes (as with many places in the Medina) so get a very very detailed map or much better book a transfer or maybe ask someone to meet you at the Medresa Ben Youssef for example. You can get food ordered in which was planned but not achieved in the end.
positivo: The any areas of the roof terrace are a must, both for wonderful breakfasts - which vary a bit each day - or at other times. The evening / night staff Abou was very helpful as was Julien when we met him later. - his Hammam/Massage recommendation was a special experience. Near to the centre and a brilliant price/value balance for our first stay in Marakech.
negativo: As with many Riads, the sound echoes and the staff and other guests needed to be much quieter in the courtyard without shouting to allow a lie in. I would recommend proper permanent signs in the rooms as well as in a guest book (even if some do not read it) plus a mention by the welcoming staff. Some better communication from the staff about room keys and times would have helped the room being cleaned daily which it normally is. A few small enhancements like a hook for the shower and a fixed and turned-on outdoor light for the main entrance would be good. Getting the website back under full control and thus the right phone number being published and replies to emails from various email addresses would help. These are all fixable and with the other enhancements Julien has planned I am sure we will come back if the opportunity arises.
